Camping “La Chatonnière” ***
“A small green camp site”
Our camp site*** (55 spaces) is situated in a peaceful section of the Dordogne not far from the Limousin border. Because this area is very special concerning the landscape and nature it obtained the status of nature reserve. The name of this new nature reserve became: “Parc naturel regional Perigord-Limousin”.
Camp site “La Chatonniere” is situated within walking distance of the village Jumilhac-le Grand (1300 residents), there you will find all the facilities such as shops for your daily groceries, a swimmingpool, a tenniscourt and restaurants.
You can rent equipped tents and mobile residences.
The impressive castle of Jumilhac-le-Grand is a part of the castleroute of Richard coeur de Lion”. On the map you can find Jumilhac-le-Grand in the middle of the line between Limoges and Perigueux.
Our camp site has two stars and has been inspected by the A.N.W.B. Controle measurements were amongst others: the quality of sanitary facilities, the sizes of the camping spots, the safety of the playground, the position of the area, etc.
After inspection it turned out we had scored well on all items, so the A.N.W.B. has acknowledged this camp site. All the same we would like to emphasize that this is a small and simple camp site without for example a disco or bar.
The camping spaces numbered 32 to 46 do not have adjacent parking places. So, when you have finished installing yourselves, you will be asked to remove your car to the car park.
But children won’t need to feel bored at our camp site. There are allways other children to play with.
For the little ones there’s a playground. In the river they can safely play in a shallow and marked space in the water.
The sandy beach alongside offers plenty of playing fun. The older children can amuse themselves with all the posibilities the river has to offer: they can swim, do some fishing and go out boating. At the bank of the river they can build a campfire (gather wood themselves in the woods!). There’s a badminton field, a volleyball field, a jeu de boules lane, there’s table football and table tennis to be played.
In the vicinity of the camp site one can have excellent walks, nice walks have been signposted. The surroundings are also well explorable by bike. The region is hilly, which means that speed on your bike and a good physical shape are desirable. Eighteen-speed mountain bikes are for hire at the camp site (if necessary with child’s seat).
